FAQ
Straight answers.
The questions people ask first, answered plainly. If yours is not here, email [email protected].
Can I donate now?
No, not yet. Florida law requires a charity to register with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services before it asks anyone for money, and our paperwork is still being filed. We want every step done properly before we accept a single dollar.
Sign up below and we'll email you the day we're approved.
Is it tax-deductible?
Not yet. AIM Foundations is not recognized by the IRS as tax exempt, and we have not applied yet. We will apply once our Florida filing is done. When anything changes, we will say so plainly on Where we are.
How do I nominate a family?
Coming once we're approved. When the Giving Tree opens, there will be a private nomination form on this site. Nothing typed into it will ever be shown publicly. Until then, please hold on to the details.
Who runs it?
Josh Lawson, Founder and Chair, and family volunteers. Nobody is paid. Nobody takes a profit, and Josh charges nothing for his work.
Where will the money go?
To families' bills, paid directly to the landlord, the utility, the lender or the store. The only costs paid from donations are card fees, government filing fees, and attorney or CPA fees. See the full breakdown.
Can I give anonymously?
Yes, once giving opens. Your gift will still be listed on the public ledger, just as Anonymous.
Is this the same as AIM?
No. AIM is Josh's motivational brand, run by his company, Kinno Ventures LLC. AIM Foundations will be its own separate nonprofit corporation, with its own bank account and its own books.
How can I check that you are who you say?
Follow along on Where we are. Once each filing is approved, the public record for it will exist, and we will link to it from that page.
What happens to my email if I sign up?
We use it to tell you when we're approved and about big steps along the way. We never sell or share it. The privacy page has the details.
